Passion flower tincture contains the same active ingredients as the dried herb, Passion flower. In modern herbal medicine, Passion flower is considered to be an herb with a mild, but highly effective, sedative effect. It is thought to affect the central nervous system by treating disorders such as anxiety, melancholy, hypertension and excessive nervousness. According to herbalists, the consumption of Passion flower does not lead to addiction. Some argue that the "calming" properties of Passion flower also have an effect on the muscles (muscle relaxing property). In many parts of Europe (eg Germany and Italy) the herb is used to relax "hyperactive" children.
